TYPE M Socket Series (South African Standard Socket)
The TYPE M socket series is the standard for electrical sockets and plugs primarily used in South Africa. It is also found in some African countries, as well as in India, Nepal, and other regions. Although it resembles the British Type D socket (commonly used in India) in appearance, the TYPE M plug is larger and rated for higher current, making it incompatible with Type D.
This socket is mainly used for high-power equipment such as air conditioners and industrial machinery and is considered an extension of the British plug family.
