TYPE O is Thailand’s exclusive standard for electrical sockets and plugs, established by the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) under the standard code TIS 166-2549 (2006). The corresponding plug standard is TIS 166-2549 Plug Type O. It is the official new national socket standard currently promoted by the Thai government, intended to replace the previously mixed use of foreign plug types such as Type A, B, C, and F. The goal is to unify the domestic power distribution system and improve safety.
